Seewer shot out of the gate on his KX450-SR in race one to secure his fourth holeshot of the season but he was immediately under pressure from the three title candidates, each of whom were ruthless in making aggressive block passes during the first two laps. The Swiss, well clear of the remainder of the field maintained a lonely fourth to the finish. He advanced into the top-six from a seventh-placed start in race two, even holding fifth for a while, to secure fifth overall and retain that position in the championship standings.
 
Jeremy Seewer: "I have won races here in the past and been on the podium a few times so the final result was a little frustrating. It's always nice to get a holeshot but those three are on a high, high level at the moment and they have a little extra, especially in the first two laps. I managed a good fourth place but I take too long to get into the race. My start was not quite so good in the second race; it's always tough to pass here and I was felt a little empty in the end. But I was happy I get through this GP safe; I didn't make any mistakes and a lot of riders are going home in pain. Now on to Lommel; I think we are fit enough so we just need some laps in the sand this week to get the feeling."
 
Febvre, fastest during morning warm-up in a KRT 1-2, was less fortunate than his teammate at the start of race one to emerge fourteenth at the first timing split but had advanced to tenth by lap two. Inevitably taking no risk of a collision on his return from injury the Frenchman displayed his immaculate race skills to move forward methodically, taking over his eventual sixth place on lap fourteen of nineteen. From a better start in race two he maintained a solid fourth place until six laps from the end when he aggravated his right ankle on landing over a jump; he was forced to slow for several laps to surrender one position in the moto, thus ended the day sixth overall and he remains seventh in the series standings.
 
Romain Febvre: "It's never easy to jump back into the championship mid-season after a break, so overall the result was not too bad with a sixth and a fifth. I was missing just a little physically but I had hoped my speed would be a little better in the first race. In the second race I could match the speed of the leaders until I overstretched my ankle on a jump; I had to slow down for two or three laps and that cost me fourth."
 
Bike It Kawasaki Racing's Bobby Bruce's had a short-lived introduction to MXGP as he was eliminated in a first lap collision in race one, but the Englishman bounced back grittily in the second moto. He pushed forward from outside the points to hold a solid nineteenth mid-moto before an incident on lap thirteen cost him fifteen seconds and he had to be content with twenty-third at the finish.
 
In the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship Bruce's Bike It Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team's Jack Chambers had crashed on the opening lap of racing. The race had to be halted for the American to receive on-track medical treatment and he was taken to the local hospital for a through examination. He has no broken bones but had suffered a concussion so he could not start either the rerun or race two later in the afternoon.
